25 Months

You guys, this little girl is growing up so fast. She's two going on 12, I swear! I feel like there is not an ounce of baby left in her, let alone toddler. It makes me sad, but it is so incredibly fun to see her grow and learn.
The sentences that come out of her mouth amaze me on a daily basis. The latest from this past weekend was, "Wha, what's making dat noise, mama?" She was hearing my mom's clock chime and I was absolutely blown away by the sentence structure, her understanding of the concepts involved, and her use of proper vocabulary. That's my girl!
Jordan's laugh is contagious on a whole new level. I called DooDoo "Big guy" the other day and she lost it. She thought it was the most funny thing she had heard in her life and even though Bobby and I had no clue why it was so funny, the three of us were caught in a massive laughing episode because her laugh was so pure and full of life. I love hearing her upstairs hysterically laughing with Bobby before he puts her to bed. It warms my heart, and although I sit downstairs wishing I could join in on the fun, a huge part of me absolutely loves experiencing it from the outside and feeling my heart swell as they share that moment together. They literally have their own inside jokes ie: "Hi, weights!!" You don't get it? Yeah, I don't either! =o)
On the flip side, I think she may be experiencing some night terrors now. We have be SO incredibly lucky with her sleep habits. She has slept through the night since around 3 or 4 months, with the exception on the occasional regression from a developmental milestone. She has NEVER been one to fight naps or bedtime, but recently she has occasionally been very upset when we put her down at night and may spend 10 to 15 minutes howling in her room. With the video monitor, I can tell she's ok and have gone in to calm her down a couple times, but we really aren't sure of the cause yet. She has also woken in the middle of the night very upset. I have a suspicion that she may have picked up on the concept of monsters from a TV show or something and maybe that has her a little scared, but I'm not positive. Aside from that, she still takes one nap a day, around 1 pm for about an hour and she's in bed around 7pm (falls asleep around 7:30) and is up between 6:30am and 7am.
Another struggle we're going through is potty training. Man oh man, I thought we were golden. She did SO incredibly well the first few weeks and was so excited and positive about it all and things just slowly went down hill. The novelty wore off and she stopped telling us she wanted to go and when you ask her if she needs to go, she will say no 100% of the time. We have gone through the gamut of treats and little prizes for positive reinforcement, but we're struggling. It is SO incredibly difficult to stay on top of needing to put her on the potty every 30 to 40 minutes while tending to Brynnlee as well. I set alarms in my phone and we have good days and we have bad days. She hadn't had an accident in three days this past week, but then fell asleep on our drive to Gamma's house and she was soaked when we got there even though we had stopped to let her go potty about half way there. Aside from our struggles, I refuse to go backwards. I wont put her back in diapers during the day and I just look forward to the day everything clicks.
Her favorite song to sing is Ring Around the Rosey and she likes to make up her own lyrics and be really silly about it. I also caught her singing part of a Doc McStuffins song the other day..."I feel bedda, so much bedda, thank you ouches awaaaaay" <3
She has taken a new liking to Higglytown Heroes and can be heard repeating, "Oh Pickles, dis is terr-ble!"
Just last week, she started giving me great big hugs and saying, "You da best, mama!" OK, seriously?? How do you not just want to give them the moon and the stars and a pony for those sweet words that were prompted by no one other than herself????
Light switches are like the best toys in the house right now and she can easily spend 20 minutes running around the downstairs turning all of the lights on and then all of the lights off.
Everything about Christmas is very exciting for her. She loves seeing decorations in people's houses, lights up everywhere, and gets so excited to see Santa Clause, snowmen, and all of the big blow up decorations in the stores. I cannot believe how well she has done with the tree. I thought I was going to be pulling my hair out trying to keep her away from it and keeping her little hands off of all of the ornaments, but it really has not been a problem. She needs a reminder here and there, but I am totally impressed with her self control.
Bobby had given me The Elf On The Shelf last year for Christmas, so we named him Alex and have quickly adapted him into a new family tradition. I don't know that Jordan fully understands the concept, but she has a lot of fun looking for him in the mornings and gets quite a kick out of some of the places that he shows up. "Silly, Owwex!" Needless to say, Bobby and can't wait to see her reaction on Christmas morning. She has a better understanding of it this year and we'll be able to share it with both her Gamma and her Nana at our house.
A couple weeks ago, Jordan seemed to be really clingy to me. I think it may have been related to teething (it looks like she has a two year molar cutting through, so I'm sure the others aren't far behind), but I realized that it may be time to spend a little one on one time with her and I left Brynnlee at home one morning with Bobby while she and I went to the grocery store together! How lucky is she??? We were tight on time, so I did my best to make it feel special for her and even let her indulge in her first "coffee" (a kids hot chocolate).
Yup, I think she enjoyed it! Her eyes make it look like she had been crying, but they were red because she was sucking it down so fast, she was choking herself and coughing! To this day, when I mention a "special treat", she says, "Coffee?!?!" Sadly, the entire time we were out, she kept asking where baby was and wanting to know why baby didn't come with us! Sweet girl.
She's our little "spunky gal".
