By the time I got around to even thinking about writing a 21 month update for Jordan, I figured I might as well wait and merge it with 22 months. I still don't even know where to start! She has such an energy that keeps us on out toes at all times and provides endless laughs. She has mastered the art of pushing our buttons and discipline has been quite a feat as of late. From the most stern voice to being stuck in her crib in a dark room, to being held hostage in our lap as a time out.....she never seems to be phased. So finding her doing something like this....
is quite nerve wracking, but quite amusing at the same time. Lately, it seems as if her hands have magnets for the TV remotes. No matter how many times she has been put in a corner, in her crib, or stuck in our laps, she'll wait till you're in the other room or busy doing something and run right over and start pushing buttons. UGH!!! She is sure dang lucky she's cute!
I had a bucket list of things that I wanted to do with her this summer/before Brynnlee arrived, but we've only managed to check a couple things off the list. The rest (Disneyland, Seas World, Legoland, Wild Animal Park, Zoo, etc) will hopefully be accomplished in the fall when the crowds and heat die down and before Brynnlee grows out of the sleepy newborn stage (cause she will be a sleepy newborn, right? RIGHT?) What we have managed to do is take a couple trips to the beach. I posted about one trip a while back, but we also managed to take a little stroll after dinner one night with Dada in tow.
I wish I had the energy to take her back for the day to play in the water, but the thought of putting a bikini on in public and trying to keep my bottoms from being eating by my butt (sorry TMI!) as I chase her down the beach just doesn't sound appealing for me or anyone that would have to witness it!
We also made it out to the Del Mar Horse Races for family day, but that lasted all of maybe 90 minutes and we felt it was more torture for her to be stuck in our arms or in the stroller than it was worth. The lines for everything were miles long, so we managed to watch a few races, let her play in the toddler toy area, throw some pennies in the fountain, and it was off to McDonald's for a soft serve ice cream instead!
Other than that, we've been going on a walk almost every weekday morning, have spent a few days out in the backyard playing in the sprinklers, enjoying homemade popsicles, running errands (both necessary one's and unnecessary one's just to get out of our non-air conditioned house in the afternoons), coloring, getting things ready for Brynnlee, and meeting for the occasional play date or two.
She still goes down at about 7pm and will sleep till about 6:30 give or take a half hour. Her nap is typically around 12 now and we can get a decent hour out of her, an hour and 20 if we're lucky. She cut three new teeth in the past couple months. Her top two canines and her bottom, right canine. The left one seems to be straggling a bit. She loves brushing her teeth and especially loves when you brush her tongue. She thinks it's so funny and just this morning, we tried out some floss action because she had something stuck between her two front teeth and she didn't seem to mind that either. Yay for good dental hygiene!
She's become quite picky about what she eats, which is never fun, but a lot of the times it has more to do with her attention than it does with her liking what she's eating. She'd eat an entire peanut butter and jelly sandwich if I made it for myself and she could eats bites on the couch while playing or watching TV, but you give one to her in her seat at the table and she takes the bread apart, eats a few handfuls of whatever peanut butter and jelly she can get on her hands and then she's "All done"! Same with bean burritos. She'll eat a decent amount of one if you hand feed it to her and make her take bites, but if you give her one to eat on her own, she opens it up and takes handfuls of beans and then pushes it aside. Chicken nuggets are typically pretty successful, but not full proof. She loves her milk more than anything. She would skip all food (aside from grapes) and drink milk all day if we let her. Chicken hot dogs are hit and miss and so is mac and cheese.
She has picked up on a couple things out of Dada's mouth recently that she likes to pull out every now and then and it always seems to be pretty hysterical. Such as, "C'mon, man!" or "Wait a minute!" Here's an example where she is playing a matching game on the ipad...
She also thinks it's hilarious when I talk to the dog. The other morning, I let DooDoo in and he went over and got his front paws up on the counter and was sniffing around and I said, "Hey, get down! There's nothing up there for you!" Ever since, she'll randomly say, "Up there for you!" and crack herself up! Whenever she hears a dog barking she'll say, " Shush, DooDoo!" and the best is when she gets annoyed with him and tells him to "watch out!" LOL. Dada loves the face she makes and the way she says "heavy" as she tries to pick something up and I love hearing her say, "That tittles, mama! That tittles!" <3
This girl is OB-SESSED with money!!!!! Dada likes to give her his change when he gets home from work and she gets so incredibly excited to go upstairs and put it in her piggy bank and then "shake, shake, shake!"
We also took her on a special trip to ToysRUs and picked out her first baby doll for her (Dada's idea!) Baby Sarah has provided lots of entertainment in the last few weeks.
Another first for Jordan was her first free cookie from the bakery at the grocery store. She stuck that cookie in her mouth and it was so cute and innocent that she really didn't even know how to eat it. She left it in her mouth and just kept sucking it on it! I finally had to explain to her how to take bites of it. Now every time we go grocery shopping, all I hear is, "Cookie jar? Cookie jar?" Luckily, the bakery is on the opposite end of the route I take when shopping, so she knows she has to be a very good girl in order to stop there.
Jordan was also able to ENJOY a ride on the swing for the first time! When she was real little, she didn't mind it at all, but it quickly became something she wasn't very fond of. Well, last week, we made a trip to the park and she asked to get on the big kid swings, so I got on and put her on my lap, spider style, and started swinging very slowly. You guys, the girl had a death grip around my neck! Poor thing. She seemed to ease into it after a bit and next wanted to sit in one by herself. Next thing you know......
She couldn't be happier! <3 and mom??? I just can't get over the pony tail! I think she looks so cute... when she actually keeps the rubber band in her hair.
She still counts to 13, skipping 6 and has recently started showing us her ABC skills. She can get all the way through the song, but a lot of it is not the right letters, but more her making the sounds of the letters put together. Either way, I'm impressed =o)
She can recite main parts of certain books, she can tell you her name and knows the shapes of a triangle, a circle, and a heart.
Lastly, this girl has developed some dance moves! I'll let Dada take all the credit for this achievement and leave you with this awesomeness for making it this far in the post!
