Bobby left super early Friday morning for a quick trip to Seattle. Every time he has a trip planned, my brain starts spinning with ideas to keep myself (and now Jordan) busy while he's away. All kinds of fun ideas pop up like.....going to the beach, working on our Wedding album (from over THREE years ago! ughh), deep cleaning, shopping, baking, etc..........well, those times always come and go and I end up spending my days being pretty lazy! But not this past weekend. I managed to squeeze in quite a bit and still not end up with swollen ankles and feet by the end of the day.
I'll admit, Friday was pretty lazy, but that's what I had hoped for. My boss kicked me out of work about an hour early and my new favorite thing to do when this happens, is rush over to the nail salon down the road from my house and get a pedicure. Ahhhhhhhhh. It's such a relaxing way to end the work week and a special treat that I don't feel an ounce of guilt about (aside from knowing the nanny would like to get on with her weekend too, but shhhhhh, she doesn't have to know about my little pit stop on the way home). Unfortunately, I forgot my copy of Fifty Shades Darker, so I did not get to indulge in a couple chapters while in the pedicure chair, but just vegging out and fooling around on my phone were good enough. With hot pink toes, I made my way home and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening with Jordan. It was great! We watched Tangled on the couch and ate Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza. YUM!
After Jordan went to bed, I had a little burst of energy and decided to attempt putting all of our food into the new pantry. The pantry doors had just been installed that afternoon and while I wasn't too happy with the workmanship (made a call to the owner asking him to call me back), I didn't see any harm in filling the new pull out drawers......till I tried to actually PULL OUT one of the drawers. MAJOR FAIL. The newly installed doors now blocked the path of the drawers no matter how open or closed they were. This is no joke.
I stood in my kitchen, by myself, laughing so loud, I was worried I was going to wake Jordan up. Are these guys for real?? That put an end to my "super mom/wife energy" and it was back to the couch and TiVo for me! The next morning, I opened the pantry to get something out (there are a few items randomly placed in there just to save what little counter space I have left until everything can go back in) and the right door falls off the top two hinges, leaving it hanging by one hinge at the bottom. No exaggeration, they are lucky I didn't get hurt and that Jordan wasn't around to get hurt. This is now what I was witnessing in my kitchen......
Thus, I made another phone call to the owner and left a message letting him know that this was no longer an aesthetic issue, but the drawers were not functional and one of the doors was falling off. Long story semi short, he finally calls me back and says he's on his way over and will be there "right away" and that Curtis (one of the two guys that worked on this installation) is also on his way to help him fix everything. Curtis shows up about a half hour later and analyzes everything, fiddles around here and there, explains to me that Adam's (the guy that installed the doors) work has not been up to their standards and basically blames everything on him. Ok, no big deal. So Curtis removed all four doors (we had two upper cabinet doors made to match the lower one's and the left one sounded like a dying cow when you closed it) and said he would take them with him and someone would be in touch with us and he left. Tom, the owner, must have gotten lost in his rush to the house because he never showed up. Awesome. I ended up sending him a text telling him to please keep us in the loop as to what their next steps are going to be because Bobby and I would like to make sure we approve of their solution before we waste any more time on either of our parts. I have yet to hear from anyone. Ughhh, so.....on with our little weekend. By the time Curtis left, I had already cleaned up the kitchen, put a load of laundry in, cleaned up our closet a bit, and Jordan was ready for a nap. I got her down, took a shower and got everything ready for us to head to the beach!!!
On the way there, I stopped at Big Lots and picked up some sand toys that I got for $2 because there was no price tag and the cashier was too lazy to find out the real price. Score! After driving in circles looking for parking for 30 minutes with Jordan screaming in the backseat because she just wanted to go to the "beeeeech!", I finally parked up the road a bit and carried her and our beach bag for an eight minute walk to the beach in flip flops that I will probably never want to put on my feet again. Jordan had a blast!
She LOVED the water and wasn't even the slightest bit scared. I was more afraid of letting go of her hand than she was of anything! We played for about two hours and while it was anything but relaxing for me, sharing that experience with her was priceless!
We made the eight minute trek back to the car and this mama was pooped. I killed my back from carrying her and the beach bag and decided to just head home. We both showered up, had dinner, watched one too many episodes of "Ja-Aminals" (Pajanimals) and she was out for the night. I cleaned up some more around the house and finally moved all of Jordan's toys into a more appropriate location in the house, since they had been set up right inside the front door since we started tearing down the wall in the kitchen a month ago! We still have a lot of clean up and furniture moving to do to get things to the way they are going to be long term, but at least everything is moved and put into A PLACE as opposed to being thrown in the middle of our living room.
Sunday was, by far, our most productive day. We were at the grocery store by 9am, home by 10 am and Jordan was down for a nap by 11:30. I then made 4th of July Rice Krispie treats for our block party on Wednesday (pics and recipe to come soon!) and got to lay out and read my book in the backyard until Jordan woke up. We ate lunch and were out the door. We went to Joann's Fabrics, Target, Home Depot, and Michael's and I was so proud of Jordan because she did not throw one fit, even with all the in and out of the carseat. We were home by about 4 and able to just relax and play for a bit.
Dada came home during bath time and I apologize for the horrible quality of these pics, but look at how her face lit up when she realized Dada was home!
| She's hears the garage door and DooDoo runs off barking, so she knows! |
| She finally sees Dada peek around the shower curtain! |
So of course, he was the first person she asked for when I got her out of her crib this morning. SO glad we have Dada back home!
And to top it all off, my baby love was busy cutting her bottom molars the whole time!
Sounds like a super busy weekend. You sound like me with all the running around. It's really hard for me to stay home all day! Jordan is too cute and I feel like she's bigger since I saw her last. Enjoy tour block part and the 4th.
ReplyDeleteLet's try that last sentence again.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your block party and the 4th!
I can not believe the cabinet drama! I hope they fixed it. How irritating. Jordan looks so sweet in those beach pictures. What a cutie! Hope to see you guys tomorrow.
